Serve With Us!
Tuesday Evening Arts & Crafts & Dinner
at Commonwealth Academy
FOCUS Detroit serves a meal for students and their families at Commonwealth Community Development Academy in Detroit. We prepare the meals on-site. Prep takes place between 3:30-4:15 and dinner is from 4:15 PM – 5:00 PM. During this time, volunteers serve the food and eat with the students. We also have an arts & crafts program that takes place during dinner prep, so some volunteers will be tasked with assisting with this program.
Volunteer slots run from 3:15 PM – 5:30 PM to help set up, serve and clean up.
Saturday Feeding Ministry & Outfitted for Good
On the first and third Saturday of each month, we partner with Oasis of Hope Christian Church to prepare and serve a hot meal for our neighbors in need. We also open “Outfitted for Good”, which is a 40-foot shipping container-turned-free store where our neighbors can shop for gently used clothing, basic needs, and hygiene products.
We will be serving the community with fresh coffee, pastries, and distributing clothing and basic needs to our neighbors in need. We will welcome our guests in at 7:30 AM and the program will run until 10 AM.
Set up will be at 7 AM and clean up will take after 10 until around 10:30 AM. If you cannot make the whole time, please send an email to amurphy@focusna.org to let us know.
